Holiday season in Madrid is an experience like none other. Here are some ways to celebrate all your favorite traditions while incorporating that famous Spanish flavor!! Spain’s capital is home to a number of festive attractions and events. Taking a walk down any give road that stretches out from Puerta del Sol(madrids most famous square) is an activity in itself. The streets are speckled with beautiful lights. Pulled up over your head are stunning center pieces that sometimes even resemble sparkling chandeliers. Of course there is the most impressive Christmas decoration of all and that is the gigantic tree in Puerta del sol. It’s sheer size and deep golds makes it an ideal backdrop for that Christmas card you will be wanting to send back home. Here are some of Madrid’s top holiday destinations that you should see!
The navibús- This is an awesome joy ride that you and your friends can join for only 2 euros. It takes you on a tour of all the best Christmas lights Madrid has to offer. Be sure to get there early because the lines can sometimes stretch all the way around the block. Located in the upper-class neighborhood of Serrano you can board the bus until the 6th of January.
Holiday markets- Get some holiday shopping done at any one of the many Christmas markets around Madrid. These markets are located at all the major plazas including Opera, plaza Mayor, plaza del Callo and of course el Rastro(barrio la Latina) every Sunday morning.
Churros- What holiday trip to Madrid is complete without a few of those deliciously fried strips accompanied with a piping hot mug of chocolate. This holiday treat is sure to warm you up on these chilly Madrid evenings.
